MG MGF Technical - Newbie - MGF -MGTF convertion
Hi, ive been browsing the forum for the past hour or so and have found it very interesting. I have just bought a 1997 1.8 MGF and i think it has bucket loads of appeal and fun! Im not one to fit over the top body kits etc.. but i do really really like the mgtf bumpers and interior. ive already sourced a set of original MGTF bumpers (font and rear) but i need some other parts, but im not too sure what they are. ive read the mike satur website and it appears modified mounting brackets are required to fit the bumpers, what about the head lights? are they a simple plug and play upgrade? or is bonnet and wing work required? wheres the best place to get them? also the rear boot lid, is it the same fitment as the original mgf? obviously the boot lip is different which is why id be inclined to change it. now for the interior, can i simply swap over the central console and switches from the mgtf to my mgf? or isnt it as simple as that? any information that can you can give me would be grately appreciated, all advice welcomed, both positive and negative alike, many thanks David |

David. Firstly welcome onboard. Ok... Interior. check out Dr Bells site, there is a section on the MK1-2 upgrade you want!. http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/menu.htm Quite a few people have done the exterior F-TF upgrade you are planning, not sure on exact details but someone will be along to help soon, also Moss, do a conversion kit in there catalogue so may be worth a look. www.moss-europe.co.uk HTH. PS, where abouts North-West are you?. Mark. |

The british racing green car on Mike Saturs site is mine with the conversion. Here goes - the rear bumper is a sraight swap no modifications, for the front bumper there are no modifications to the bonnet or wings. You will need two bumper brackets for the front, I got mine from Mike and weld them to the existing cross member once you have lined them up with the tf bumper. You will need to buy some headlight brackets as the TF headlights do not sit exactly where the F headlights do. The multi-plug on the back of the headlights is not a straight swap eventhough looking at it you would think so. I think its on deiters site where you can pick-up a wiring diagram, I got one of mates who is an auto electrician to sort mine out, (made it look easy but it isn't). Depending on where you are in Cheshire I could pop across and give you some pointers. Oliver |
