MG MGF Technical - Occasional stall, then won't restart
A strange and extremely annoying problem has cropped up recently (4 times in the last 200 miles). After about 5 or 6 miles when I slow down (e.g. for traffic lights) the battery indicater lights up and the engine shuts off. It won't restart. The starter motor turns, but the engine won't catch. If I wait for 15 minutes or so, it will start again. Does anybody have any idea what the cause could be? Thanks, Scot |

I had a similar problem years ago with a VW Polo. Took the local VW dealer a week to find the fault but it was the fuel pump. It would run until hot then shut off. Give it 10-15 minutes to cool down and it would start first time. Might be a good place to start. David |

I'd suggest you try driving 2 miles from your home and then back (covering the necessary distance) then in the drive slow down till it stalls as if at lights. Then look to se if a spark on plugs or not and maybe if you can detect fuel (so identifying if its the pump) At least with this info you mabe be a bit closer to seeing why |
