MG MGF Technical - power, no power, power, no power
This has happened to me three times now and all under pretty much the same circumstances: I start the F (1.8 MPI) and drive somewhere (about 25 minutes). Then I park up for about 30 minutes leaving the car. Then I get back in, start it up and try to pull away but the power starts to go on and off when i accellerate.... It will happily chug along in 4th when i should be in 3rd but if i try anything interesting with the accellerator at first i get no power and then, just before it gets to stall, the power comes back big time..... I'm confused. The only performance mods i have are a lovely old Magnex exhaust and a K&N permanent filter. Thing is, the car passed its MOT and 72,000 service a couple of months ago. Anyone know what's up? |

Try rotor arm,HTH. |

This happen to me, in a Rover. The RAC chappie, who attended, painted the inside of the rotor arm with tippex!!! It evidently seals and cracks and is a way of fixing the car on a temporary basis. |

Many thanks for this. I'll check it out. |

I agree with Mike - I had exactly the same problem recently with my MPi. Replaced the rotor arm and the dizzy cap, and normal service was restored :o) |
