MG MGF Technical - Refit Rover Air Filter
Well after 3 fun years the MGF has done it's 60k miles, and the lease is over. Us 2 will become 3 in March, so I need a nice sensible 4 door family saloon instead. Fortunately I've just ordered a Subaru Impreza Turbo :^) So I need to put back the Rover box and air filter. Anyone ever done it, or got any tips? Thanks, Greg |

"refitting is the reversal of removal" as the Haynes manual would say. In fact it is almost this simple. Almost. Make sure you have all the parts- including the fastners for the air box. The only tricky part of the whole re-assembly process is putting that right angle knuckle tube back onto the reasonance box. It's a bugger to get back on. Perseverence is required here- plus some brut force- but it is possible. I hate that particular job- and if anyone else has a clever and easy way of doing it, I want to hear from you! Greg, do something useful for the next owner and a free breath of your F. Check the fixture of the fabric air inlet hose far below at the rear panel. Mine was poorly 'strangled' by a cable tie. See picture in row 14 http://www.fortunecity.de/hockenheim/senna/253/defects/ Good luck and following on what Rob said - don't break your fingers - Cheers Dieter http://mgf.tech.here.de |
