MG MGF Technical - Results for 52mm throttle body
Had a very interesting couple of hours with Dave Walker on his rolling road yesterday and did a couple of back to back tests between plastic 48mm original throttle body and a 52mm alloy on a VVC engined BRM. Saw a clear 5 bhp difference between the two and verified this by swapping the unit back and forth to see repeated results. The engine of this car is slightly tweaked and was about 10bhp up on a Trophy spec, this rising to 15 with the 52mm body. air filter change is a must with this TB otherwise your potential 5 bhp gains are lost. Oops, forgot to mention that the gains were from 5000rpm upwards, up to that point there was nothing in it. Expect a mention in a forthcoming CCC magazine. Rog |

Cheers for the info Rog :o)) Pretty much confirms what I had suspected; still want to see the results on a 1.8i/VVC that are otherwise standard mind- one might expect less of an improvement in these cases, but from what people are reporting, maybe not... |
