MG MGF Technical - Rev counter issue
Once again good evening all, I have an issue with my rev counter. On tick over I turned on my heater fan and the rev counter dropped to zero very strange, has anyone come across this before. Any ideas on what may be causing this would be most appreciated. |

This could be due to voltage drop under load conditions, is this the same car as the battery warning light fault? |

Hi Gary sounds like it could be a battery issue then, as the car was layed up for about 18months in disgrace. Charged the battery and car fired up first time. I did have to shuffle the car around with lots of use of the EPAS, car switched off for about 5 mins wouldn't fire up starter just rapidly clicked. |

Starter clicking classic flat battery symptom. Check the alternators output voltage should be near to 14v across battery engine running, if ok suspect the battery, if low then the alternator is still faulty. |

Check you have a good earth from the pod with the clocks in. |

Thank you guys, will check both out. Worrying if it is the alternator still only done 500mls. |

If you've not done so I'd charge your battery overnight using a decent battery charger, and see if that helps. |
