MG MGF Technical - Rotary coupler - fairly urgent :-)
Afternoon all, Has anyone got a pic of the rotary coupler with the steering wheel off and where to put tape across when you're taking the wheel off...? Cheers ChrisT. |

Don't panic. Apply any sticker, or tape to prevent turning of the upper ring against the coupler body. I.e from centre hole up on the surface. Or from surface to the outer circumference. Up to half a turn going out of ZEERO will nut hurt. You need to get it out before applying a tape http://www.mgfcar.de/steeringwheel/off_cp_2388.jpg More important: Notice the metal ring in the inner diameter which links the coupler to the steering shaft with two notches. http://www.mgfcar.de/steeringwheel/ass_cp_2389.jpg More on http://www.mgfcar.de/srs_system/index.htm But no instructions. Sorry for hijacking this thread, but this is kinda related. Remember last week I left my lights on and drained the battery? Got jumped and off I went... but noticed that the clock no longer worked. IIRC, folks on here have had this problem before, usually after reconnecting the battery. At the weekend, replaced the indicator/wipers stalk unit (and kudos to Victoria at the MGF Centre for supplying the new unit, bless her)... had to fully disconnect the battery to allow the airbag to discharge... [Funnyish story: just as I was *gingerly* holding the airbag in my left hand, right hand fingers gripping the multiplug, my mobile started ringing in my pocket, lordy, I nearly died ;-)] ... when all was reassembled and the battery reconnected, what d'ya know, the clock started working again. Mmmm? I was very surprised at how *untight* the steering nut was, btw! ;-( Col |
