MG MGF Technical - Rubber bumber valence
I've just bought a cheap '76 roadster for some summer fun (my chrome bumper project car won't be finished til next year). Question is, can I fit a spare chrome bumper valence to my rubber bumper car?. I'm guessing that some cutting may be required to accommodate bumper mounting hardware?, but would like to know for sure before I go to the trouble of removing the bumper. Thanks, Pete |

Pete, Just in case you look at this again. Yes - you can convert from rubber to chrome bumper. Most of the MG shops live MGB Hive etc. do a kit, as well as the MG Owners Club. Sam |

Sorry guys....brain fade. Must be the heat |

Sam, not the question. On the midget the bumper mounts come thru the valance, so you have to saw them off and not have a bumper, or saw a hole in the valance, and dammage a very expensive part. |

Hi Will, I assumed it was an mgb roadster. My mistake. Sam |

Sam / Will Sorry for the confusion....had I used the correct BBS it would have been much clearer! Yes, the question did relate to an RB MGB (rather than a CB conversion). I think I have the answer I need (I should be able to cut the valance to fit). I think we can close this thread (and avoid any further embarrassment to me for accidentally filing the Q in the wrong BBS!!). Thanks for your help. Pete |

I wouldn't worry, it happens all the time, nobody ever drops round just to say Hi, always this problem or that problem! |
