MG MGF Technical - Speaker connections
Hello everyone I have just bought 2000 year door cards and rear T bar to fit into my mark 1,is there any part numbers to obtain the speaker wire from the back of the radio to the connection in the T bar? and from the door speakers to the tweeters, Also is there anything to be careful of when fitting a 52mm throttle body. Thanks in anticipation...john. |

John I did the same...just before Christmas. The speaker cables and plugs can only be ordered as part of the main loom. I cut the plugs off and connected everything up with cable and a box of connectors from Halfords....the kind you squeeze with pliers. I'd recomend sticky labels for the cables..just so you remember what goes where. I haven't connected the door tweeters yet....I may solder those. Hope this helps |

>> Also is there anything to be careful of when fitting a 52mm throttle body. << Access is the main one. The actual process is very simple, consisting of unclipping the throttle cable, air filter connection pipe and multiplug to the TPS (potentiometer), then removing the 2 retaining screws to the TPS and sliding it off the TB, finally undoing the 4 retaining bolts for the TB itself. However, getting to some of the bolts is tricky, this job requires you to remove the engine bay inspection panel for this reason. I recommend getting some long sockets and maybe some ratchet spanners too. Something else to watch out for is dropping the metal spring clip on the TPS multiplug - it's easy to do and once dropped in the engine bay, very difficult to find again! Lastly, if you are having problems with a fast idle after fitting, check the cable is seated properly in the throttle cam, then if all is well, adjust the tension on the cable by spinning the square plastic retaining block. It's pretty straightforward, but can take a while. SF |
