MG MGF Technical - Speed Signal for Navi System or speed dependend ICE loudness control in MK1 MGF
Hi all, good day today :) Have another one for DIY works. If someane likes to install a modern GPS Navigation system or needs a spped signal for loudness control at newer ICE, then use: http://www.mgf-net.de/navi/yellow_green_0120.jpg The yellow-green wire of the upper multiconnector on the fuse board. Applicable for MK1 MGF until MY2001 without LCD instrument only. I had some difficulties finding the right wire, cause the wiring diagram for the old MK1 was most confusing (for me). The other model connection and also the option with VDO Hall-Sensor can be found at the webside. http://www.mgf-net.de/navi/ I'll do the final works at the Becker TrafficPro tomorrow. Had already the calibration ride today and some amazing tests. I'm really impressed. This was the best investment in 'man toys' I had in the last years. Can recommend. The display is small but the voice leads with TMC support without any troubles in high precision. Also the Radio Control and all the knobs do not disturb while driving. Easier then a Microsoft program ;) CD changer and new Active subwoofer to add tomorrow. Regards Dieter PS what the the right english short for 'Speed dependent loudness control' ? |

I think MG called it inductive coupling technology[ICT] for the audio system in 2001 cars. |

On a similar theme Santa gave me SatNav on my PDA (Ipaq) and it works very well, but the voice directions are too quiet from the small Ipaq speaker (especially with a K&N) is there anyway I can take the standard headphone output from the Ipaq and play thro my CD player wiith lots of volume? Thanks JR |

Dieter - 'speed dependent loudness control' is pretty good English: though 'volume' would be preferred to 'loudness' to be really good. Loudness, in sound systems, generally refers to a quality of the sound, rather than the amount of it. :-) E |

John Roach, The answer is yes/no, you can get CD/Tape conversion kits (Moss products)which will plug into the headphone socket of a CD player and a dummy cassette then plugs into the tapedeck, you could do this with your pda if you radio still has a tape player (more don't these days) p.s. Where did the SATNAV software come from ? I'm interested. Mike |

Mike Problem is I haven't a tape deck - just a CD changer. The software is Pocket co-pilot running with a Navman GPS jacket on a compaq Ipaq. It really works very well once you have set the road preferences. See this link for comparisons http://www.semperaptus.com/reviews/ JR |

LOL- a good day indeed Dieter! What is this yellow/green cable used for on the Mk1 MGF- is it the EPAS speed signal or something completely different? Also, is the output signal altered at all by splicing another cable to it? Just wondering... might be useful to know one day if one were developing a simple telemetry system for example... ;o) |

>though 'volume' would be preferred to 'loudness' Err, of course ;) Had my doubts with 'loudness' but you know 'these ignoring Germans' ;) Thank you for the volume. Had a look to the english language installation guide to find their short for Speed Depending Volume Control. I think I use 'Speed Sensitive Volume Control' on the site then. :o) Cheers Dieter |
