MG MGF Technical - Squeeks.
Is there such a thing as a squeeky shock. I posted on the thread about the fatigued rear shock mountings as somebody mentioned that this was a sign of the mountings going. I have checked as best possible on both the mountings for evidence of a broken weld but have seen nothing. However I am convinced that I have a mouse on the drivers side and a little man tapping on the passenger side rear wing. And yes I have looked for loose cables. Any thoughts before it drives me mad ??? |

>>Is there such a thing as a squeeky shock<< I do hope so - my VVC appears to have a squeeky shock on the offside rear; could possibly be the exhaust box/pipe ? I will get it checked out at the next service. |

Interesting - Me too, I have just noticed a bit of a squeek offside rear. I have no good advice on what to do though but I just thought I would share my woes. Stephen, the roads over here would kill ANY cars suspension after just 1000 miles !! '96 VVC 50k |

Have you checked the shocker bushes ? |

>>Have you checked the shocker bushes ? << Mine were replaced about a year before the squeek appeared. |

I intend looking at the shocks this weekend and arming myself with silicon spray. To be honest after fitting an engine I am fed up looking at it. You know Rover did an advert for the 600 saying this was a car of build quality. I can testify to that. Maybe a change coming on. Honda engine mind ! |

Ive just had my shocks upgraded from standard to avo's. I get squeeks with mine first thing in the morning. Not sure if this is just condensation from the night before. |

IVE WORKED ON MGF'S FOR THE LAST SIX YEARS AND HAVE COME ACROSS THIS PROBLEM MANY TIMES FIRST YOU NEED TO CHECK THE LOWER SHOCKER BUSH IF THAT IS OK THERE IS A BRAKE PIPE THAT RUNS ALONG SIDE THE O/S/R TOP SHOCKER MOUNT AND IT RUBS AGAINST THE RUBBER BUSH IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE WITHOUT THE CAR ON THE RAMP BUT IT IS AN EASY FIX JUST A MATTER OF EASEING THE PIPE AWAY GOOD LUCK MARTIN |
