MG MGF Technical - starting an F
Just out of interest...when I turn the key to start my car (98 VVC) I can hear the fuel pump (I guess) pumping the fuel to behind the injectors. Should I run the starter during this phase or wait till the noise ends and then turn it over... |

>>Should I run the starter during this phase or wait till the noise ends and then turn it over...<< Either - the car doesn't really care. Personally, I like to wait until the fuel pump stops - if it doesn't then there's no way I'll turn the key ! I don't bother with such checks on the two Seats; I just know they'll work. Steve |

Depends on when you last drove the car- if its been a while, then I wait for the fuel pump to fall silent before starting- it just ensures that the fuel line pressure is up to the mark before cranking the engine. The 4 cylinder K-series never ceases to impress with the speed at which it takes to start; probably within 1/2 a turn of the crank... |
