MG MGF Technical - Steering lock

Help! Only a few driving days left here in Minnesota and the steering lock on my MG is frozen! Or maybe it's the key--too old and worn. steering wheel moves freely, by the way--have spent lots of time jiggling the key around etc. trying to get lock to turn. Any help--other than completely dismantling steering column and boring out lock??? Hurry!
