MG MGF Technical - Steering Off Centre (considerably)
Guyz, Had my rear tyres changed on Saturday. When the drivers side was being lifted I heard a 'crack' sound from the suspension. Didn't think any of it 'cos sometimes I get the very same sound when I 'jack up' the car. Anyway when I drove off I noticed the steering was of centre quite considerably - for straight line driving the wheel is in a 'twenty to two' position. I drove into work this morning A3-M25-M4 and it was not easy (bit windy as well). Any ideas ... Gaz |

At a guess when they jacked up they were not in the correct place and the jack slipped which created the crack. It probably slipped onto, or off, a suspension arm which has been bent, so now you have rear end steering which the current steering wheel position is correcting for. If there is damage I suggest you beat a rapid path back to their door before they have any room to manouvre by saying you must have done some damage since they fitted the tyres. Rog |

Turns out it was a tracking issue. Had it sorted today. I was amazed at how much difference a new set of same size tyres (albeit going from NCT3 to F1) can affect handling. |
