MG MGF Technical - strap for softhood

Hi all
I would like to know if you have or if you know somebody who has installed the strap for the softhood made by rover (order number is DJE000010) in the Mgf and why he installed it in the car.
And maybe you know if we need to install it on a MGF VVC 1998 ?
Is this part made only for the mgtf ?
Thanks for the reply

I think you're referring to this:
http://www.csmgf.co.uk/darkside/others/hood_strap_1.jpg

It is fitted to stop the hood 'sticking' when you put it down as it pulls the bars of the frame together. I think it also reduces the wear on the hood as well. Your '98 F probably won't have one fitted, so it could be worthwhile fitting if you find the hood sticking or wearing down.

Hope that helps!

Hi
thanks for reply
it's exactly what we can see on the picture.
i do not see any mark on the hood yet and my car is from 98, so if i had a problem i think i should see something on it, NO?
did you do the change on yours ?regards

Interesting.

The strap is exactly the same as came with the Power Hood and in the same place (two straps, one both side) and called an 'anti slam' strap

The car in the picture is mine and I fitted them because my hood developed the well known "lock up". It took 10 minutes to fit both straps and they completely cured the problem. Money well spent :-)
