MG MGF Technical - T-bar clips needed

Hi,

I've got a Mk1 T-bar thats attached to the bodywork behind at each end by the 4 plastic clips that hook on the back of the T-bar and then push into holes in the bodywork.

However, 2 of these have gone walkabout and 1 is broken... leaving me with a T-bar that rattles against the door edges when I drive about.

Has anyone got any spare ones they can sell to me at all? Tried Victoria at the MGF Center but no luck...

Cheers

Chris.

Got mine from nearest MGR dealer - very cheap, 4 in a pack (I think). I believe they are called fir-tree fasteners and the t-bar is really a rear bulk head trim panel (or finisher).

First time I referred to it as a t-bar at a dealer they pointed me to a vending machine in the lounge!

Cool John,

I will ring my local one today and also remember to use the proper "grown up" words to them over the phone :-)

Thanks again

Chris.

Chris, get the seatbelt recall pack (about 60p) it come with all 8 or is it 6?
Will Munns

Good suggestion Will. There was a problem with part numbers on the fasteners at one time - caused by the supplier change over. Firtrees can be ordered but the bigger fasteners for the under bonnet black plastic cover can arrive.

A couple of years ago I got some from the local dealer. They were in a bag of 5 marked as ROVER 5xEYC10042. They are very useful for the door trims as well.

Success from Marshall MG-Rover in Cambridge - 17p each. getting 6 of them and picking them up tomorrow... weyhey, no more rattles inside Velma, well, at least not from the T-bar...

Cheers all for assistance.

I have just removed and refitted my T bar tonight to fit a Newton Commercial Windstop and there was definately 6 fir tree fastners.

Hi,

It's cheaper to get them as the seat belt recall kit.
Also be aware that although the dealer orders the right part number the wrong clips have a tendancy to turn up.

Been there done that.....

Hi Folks,

I'll see whats turned up at MGR when I nip down at lunch today and then if they're the wrong parts I'll take a correct course of action... laugh a bit, ridicule them and get the seat belt recall kit as I should have done in the first place :-)

Cheers again

Chris.
Chris

Chris, at least it cheers up an otherwise dull lunchtime. I find it more fun than a trip to the pub.
John Ponting

Chris, not passing thru cherry hinton on your way are you?
Will Munns

Will,

I'm not I'm afraid no... I'm off up Mitchams Corner then Newmarket road (work up at Castle Hill)... why'd you ask?

Chris

Cheers anyway

Well, here's my detention lines for this afternoon:

"I must listen to the folks on here"
"I must listen to the folks on here"
"I must listen to the folks on here"...

As some of you said, they got the wrong parts :-) They're phoning me back later about the "seatbelt recall pack" as he didn't really have a clue what I was on about and couldn't get through to the workshop...

Well, I least I had a nice drive around town... any excuse to nip in to McD's and get a "quarter pounder with cheese"!

Chris

Chris

I'm surprised, it was the older guy in there who told me that the seatbelt recall pack (dont know what they called it, some part number) was what I wanted, and they pulled it off the shelf for me.
Will Munns

It was a younger guy in there today... and the queue was out the door and halfway down runway 1 of Marshalls airport using airport transfers tonbridge so I don't think he was in the mood to play "hunt the older guy" :-)

Chris
Chris

Yep, been like that recently, it's usually empty when I arrive, but by the time they have tried to locate both sizes of inlet manifold stud the queue is out the door, you can probebly blame me for bunching caused my my visit on tuesday!
Will Munns

Chris, welcome to the world of MGR parts lists!

Still trying to find out if the computer is wrong or if simply the wrong parts in the bags. Certainly being blamed on the change over from Unipart to Cat.

Hi

Want you want to order is ESK100460K the seat belt escutcheon replacement kit costs about 60p

Paul;
Paul Waine

Thanks Paul,

They now claim to have the right parts for me to pick up today (nipping down at lunch again but will give McD's a miss today!). However if they still don't have the right ones, your part number may come in very handy :-)

Cheers

Chris
Chris

Chris, probebly see you in the queue!
Will Munns

If you do, they'll be Velma sitting outside... platinum V reg...

Nipping down about 12.30...

Chris.
Chris

So Chris, Missed you in Marshalls, there was no queue.

Was it you in the traffic jam back into town with the (gasp) Hood up?
Will Munns

Can't have been me Will... my hood would never be up... in fact pointless me having a hood - anyone wanna buy my hood? (just kidding before I get any offers)

But the saga did end and I did get the correct parts today :-)

I have a day off work tomorrow and I'm having some T-bar fun. Putting two speaker grilles in because there are in fact speakers already behind there (Mk1 t-bar in my car but the proper mk2 speakers are behind - most strange!). Then I'll be joining the "rear-speaker" crowd at last...
