MG MGF Technical - TF : tracking settings

Does anyone know the tracking settings for the TF (front and rear). After reading the reviews of the car in this months 'Evo' and 'Car' which both make great play about toe-in and toe-out settings, (as also already highlighted by Rob), i'd be interested to see what Rover have now come up with on the TF.
Paul

Hmm, interesting question Paul.

If the thought was perhaps to retrospectively apply them to the MGF, there is one problem- the completely new rear suspension system. Given that static geometry is set to make the most of a particular suspension system, then if the design is different, the figures will be different.
But having said that, the front system is very similar...

So I'd still be very interested to see the new figures. :o)

Someone may have a look to the instruction manual if visiting a show car.
Should be written there if I recall right.

If you mean the sales brochure - then I don't think so, in fact as brochures go it is not brilliant AND I am being kind to MGR.

No, not the sales brochure ;)
But the car instruction manual in the black nice plastic cover. In the glove box.

I'll try to remember to check next time I'm visiting the dealership Dieter (but this may not be anytime soon, sadly :o( )

Hi,

It's parallel at the front - from what I have read - but I don't know about the rear.

There's quite a good write-up at http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtf/mgtf03.html which contains a lot more suspension and other details than one normally gets.

I don't remember any suspension setup details in the handbook, but I might be wrong, it's a long time since I looked in there!

Hi,

And whilst you're about it, try http://www.mgcars.org.uk/MGTF/mgtf05.html for more tech info. In fact try mgtf01 to 06.

ONe of the postings in the news section did mention the changes in a more techincal fashion and ISTR the tracking being mentioned... time to trawl through the news section. :)

Here you go....

"At the front, the wishbone suspension configuration otherwise remains similar to MGF, but with reduced camber and parallel tracking in place of toe-out, plus revised pivot bushes and a stiffer anti-roll bar, up from 19mm to 20mm diameter, to complement the improved steering system. Tyre life is improved with this revised geometry."

Paul, this is only the press message, official but I wonder what they print to the manuals then.
Thank you for looking up though !

I'm beginning to think I don't exist......
Kes

No worries, you are :)

Sorry Kes I must have been totally blind when I added my comments to this thread! :)

Thanks for the reference to the Tech pages, very interesting. Interesting they have gone to parrallel on the front. Also they are now specifically highlighting the 195s on the front for 16" wheeled cars (as the F should always have been in my opinion if the tyres had existed). I know this has been said before, but it does make me smile when you read through all the changes being trumpeted and so many are related to inhancements we have made to our cars over the years. Without sounding too verbose, (mainly because i know at lot less and the tech side of the F than many people who post to the technical borad) but it would be great if we could have more direct technical contact between this BBS and the factory.
Paul

borad?...*grin*
