MG MGF Technical - TF-F SEATS
Hi Again ,(again). Does anyone Know if TF seats will fit the F ?. Thanks Again (again). Mark. |
Mark |
Yes..... TF seats are a direct swap with F seats. All you need is a Torx 30 bit and philips screwdriver to remove the T-bar. Be sure to disconnect the battery first (and leave for 20 minutes) before un-plugging the seatbelt pretensioner under the seat. But it's an easy job. Also look at some of the bespoke seats you can get from www.mgfcentre.com They have a stunning range including some stunning graphite weave leather. |

Tim. Thanks for the help!. Funds wont quite stretch to a new leather, but a local breaker has cloth interior from an 03 TF. Cheers Mark. |

Mark, Tim, You don't need to remove the t-bar to change the seats... well I didn't anyway... am I missing something Tim? Just a Torx 50 to remove the seat bolts (which are tight and not easy to access so use an extension to your socket!) Chris |

No need to remove the T-bar. I swapped mine without needing to do this! Easy job.... TF seats look great, but actually aren't all that better than the original MGF items to sit on. Different, but not any better IMO. But the alcantara is soooo nice, it was well worth the effort! :o) |

D'oh, Absolutely right Chris. Just didn't have my brain plugged in correctly...... Tim |

Mark, To see how TF seats (and door cards) look in an F, I've finally (took me 3 months!) built a mini photo album of the "before and after" look in my F... (V reg '99) http://pc14.hyperknowledge.com/velma/index.html It doesn't show it in these photos, but I now also have the speckled grey TF centre console and instrument cowl put in as well to match the door cappings... The seats in the photos were from Midland MGF via eBay. Cheers Chris. |

I like the blue alcantara interior there Chris - really nice! :o) I went for a hybrid of Mk1, MY2000 and TF for my car - http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/BRM_concept.htm#Door%20cards%20in%20situ |

Hi Chris, Rob Nice interiors. Do you think i could get the same for £200 ?!!!!!!!!. Question?, Am fitting new seats at weekend and maybe door cards as well, if i can sort some. They say disconnect battery first then wait 20 mins, why?, Also will Alarm not go daft when i re-connect? |
Mark |
£200 won't get you the whole interior Mark - but you might be able to source the seats for this price (I think I paid more than this though for mine though). The advice to disconnect the battery is to prevent unintentional triggering of the SRS system: to remove the seats you have to disconnect the SRS cables under the seats that supply the seat belt tensioners. Explosives = danger... The alarm causes no problems on reconnection. If your stereo has a code - make sure you know it before disconnecting the battery ! Hope this helps |

Cheers Rob. The £200 interior was a joke!(would have thought for that little lot, add an extra zezo) Thanks for all the help. Ps any chance of you driving up and fitting them as well!?.......... Mark. |
Mark |
No need to add the extra zero if you shop around Mark! Suggest you start asking at places like the MGF Centre and Midland MGF. There are a good number of autobreakers too which may be worth contacting... What kind of interior 'concept' did you have for your car? Hmm... Chester... not quite next door is it? ROFL ;o) |

Mark, The interior you see in my pics cost me: Seats + DoorCards = £255 from eBay Handbrake Gaitor + steering wheel = £50 All from MidlandMGF (ebay user mgfs123). Basically I was very lucky to get the seats and door cards for the price I did so when I went to pick them up, I just happened to have an extra £50 with me and he did a good deal on the other two items as well. Here's a link to them selling some grey alcantara ones at the moment - same as Rob's. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10414&item=2487782853 Keep a keen eye out and you may pick up a bargain like I did. As Rob will know, I picked up my new interior in my F (took the passanger seat out and door cards off and then fitted the new ones while I was over there and had the 3rd seat upside down on top of the passenger one) Chris. |

Hi again Rob. My original interior is the red cloth, which is starting to look its age , more so after roof leaked, and the carpet was holed anyway so will have to replace. Have just got a nice set of black TF seats, so will go down that route me thinks. Perhaps a set of door cards with the aly look inserts, then lots of nice shiney bits to match!. Just a case of picking bits up as and when i can! But where do you stop?, allready fitted hoops, chrome grills and scoops, clear lenses, new badges.+ got a nice set of 17" wheels on order.:). Thats the only problem with this site, you see some stunning MGFs, and i think , i want mine to look that good. Bummer More money!. |
Mark |
Thanks Chris. Sorted with seats thanks, just cards + carpets now. I rang midland MGF for a set of cards, £150+ delivery. Ouch!. so will keep trying Ebay. Mark. |
Mark |
Mark, I know what you mean! Where does one stop? :o) Good thing though is that you can do things step by step as and when funds and finds allow. The MY2000 alloy is IMO the best look - although you could also opt for Carbon fibre... Would look uber cool if done in conjunction with a 'fibre centre console. |
