MG MGF Technical - TF suspension

I have had my 2004 TF 135 for a year now and find the ride very harsh.I am too old to be a boy racer so am not too concerned about high speed handling so what can i do to make the ride softer, especially as my wife has a back problem.
The MGOC advertise upgraded shocks for a better ride,does anybody know if they work? Also i believe the springs can be changed ,particularly the rears.Do you meed to do both shocks and springs ? Any advice would be appreciated

After I upgraded my '96 1.8i to TF subframes and suspension with the MGOC Bilstein dampers ( see http://www.lejambonfute.f2s.com/page13a.html), I found that the general ride was very similar to the previous 10-year-old hydrolastic. I reckon you would certainly notice the difference, at a price. At least the fronts are easy to fit, as I had mine out to adjust the ride height. You would need spring compressors to get the springs off the old dampers. Haven't tried the rears as they're OK for height, but the fronts work out one notch higher.

K.P. I have the Bilsteins fitted, and IMHO they improve the ride quality dramatically. I would also recommend fitting the '05 anti-roll bar ( which is stiffer), and sharpens up the handling, without compromising the ride quality.

I have just been told by a garage that the suspendsion on my MGF needs to be pumped up from time to time. Is this correct? Anyone know please?

Julie if you have an MGF (as opposed to later mgtf) then it may need to be pumped up BUT if it needs it often then it probably has a faulty Hydra-gas unit.

If you have a good garage that knows it's MGFs and you trust them then they will advise you - you can also check it yourself - however I forget the measurements BUT I am sure someone will come along soon who knows.

BTW I have had our MGF pumped up twice in eleven years so it should not need to be done often.
