MG MGF Technical - There is absolutely nothing wrong with my MGF

Title says it all - refreshing change to the usual moans / problems.

Anyone new to the forum must think our cars are right nails.

Something has happened to the car though, all of a sudden seems to be driving better, going faster and sounding better. Feels like somehow it has opened up a bit more, going faster in each gear.
: )

How boring, best get it to a dealer quick; they'll sort it for you....
Ian Walker

LOL

And we know a few little things for you to try to make it even faster still ;oD
Rob Bell

Get to the dealer immediatly; the ECU should prevent your reaching higher speeds in the bottom 4 gears!
George B.

On a serious note, (just to encourage those new to the forum), there are thousands of MGF owners out there who never look at this BBS because they too don't have anything wrong either. Lets face it, this BBS is the place for looking for help when you do have a problem, not when you don't.

Boring, I know ! No back to mending that car!!! LOL

Cold, even slightly damp air, maybe? Improves the K&N sound too!

My 1999 Mpi is (and has been) without any problem whatsoever.
Bram

As has mine (touch wood), since I stopped using a MGR main dealer.

It's raining at the moment and that seems to have affected my Fs ability to drive with the roof off. Has anybody any similar experience?
JohnP

Steve

Opening the window a little and driving fast seems to cure this F problem (as we found out on the Treffen!).

THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH MY F IS THAT SOMEONE ELSE OWNES IT NOW, BOO HOO, SOB SOB.....
Tony Escort Driver

Oh, dear. Problem with my F.

Looked at dipstick last night and oil level very near empty. Added 500mls of oil and all seems o.k. for now.

Have had this problem with the ZS already. Washer fluid keeps running out on that one too. I never realised British cars were so unreliable.

Keep you posted.

Had a problem with mine too, shortly after buying the car i noticed the little guage on the dash showed the needle in the red. Upon further investigation it transpires that mysteriously, over the past 300 or so miles, all the petrol had dissapeared. I even had to take the car to a petrol station to re-fill the tank - wierd! The dealership knows nothing, they just rolled thier eyes and sighed when i mentioned it. Apparently it is not covered by the warrantee, so i have had to live with it, filling up again at regular intervals. Anyone else had this problem?

;-)

It obviously wasn't genuine wood that I was touching!

David,

I Sympathise, my TF keeps running out of fuel and I find I have to top it up at least once a week.

I have contacted my dealer but they say this is normal!!!!!

Surely one does not have to keep shelling out hard earned cash to simply drive ones car around the countryside?

Hmmm, Andy,
strange problem !! My fuel tank seams to having this hole as well, but in my case it needs no regular filling in fixed intervals. When I drive the thingy, then it drinks the stuff. When I keep it in the garage it seams to be well.
:(

BTW I found a very good solution against different fuel unit costs at filling stations. I fill up allways for 30 EUROs only and in this manner the different 'literage' costs don't matter me any more.
;)

Ohh, before I forget it.
Another trouble is tyre wear !!
I've done now 'only' 32k miles with my first set of 215/40 16' tyres and they are already worn equal down to 3mm profile.
I changed the front to rear at 20k miles but this seams no help.
Is this a common problem ?

Cheers
Dieter <-- never asking a dealer, cause the always say 'It's normal'

Have you worked out a way to stop the inside of the windscreen from misting up when the rain gets heavier.
