MG MGF Technical - what might cause my flat spot?
Hi guys Well we're approaching two years since getting the F and using it as daily transport. Even having spent quite a bit of money on it, and having a HGF we're still in love with it. the novelty hasn't worn off, even though we use it literally every day, apart from the odd sunday. great car. anyway im getting a flat spot in the rev range, around 2 - 3 thousand revs, and it only happens when accelerating with quite wide throttle settings. its very pronounced and is a definite jerk and can be annoying. i would say it happens 40 % of the time when accelerating from low revs in this manner. Any ideas what might cause it or the remedy? Its justa niggle at the minute but i don't like it much... thanks in advance jon |

Jon, is your car a 1.8i? In which case, I'd replace the distributor cap and rotor arm. Had very similar problems with my car, and the solution was very cheap and easy. :o) |

Do you have K&N? When they're dirty the poor performance is very noticeable. Neil |

Fuel filter ? Some "cheap2 brands do clogg up the filter fast! Also the FPR can be slightly low in pressure..... BR, Carl. |
