MG MGF Technical - Who put a machine gun in the engine?
Hi Guys/ Gals Sorry for my distance from the good ole BBS. I had a weird occurrence last night, driving car back from the gym. Switched off the engine whilst talking to a friend, then when I tried to fire up again got the sound of an machine gun! Hmm is it a duff alternator? Or has my started motor gone up the spout? I managed to push start the F but noticed the idle was up at 1500rpm at a stand. After a 5-mile drive round glorious Croydon, I got myself on a hill and switched off the engine. Thank god me "F" fired up again and the idle was back down to normal. So any ideas? I am sure that I have heard this happening to VVCs rather than the humble MPI. Sunil your battery is running low. (it's that machine gun noise I had as well) If you turn your car on to stage 1 or 2 without firing the engine, try turning the fan at full speed, and also headlights on after that, if the fan speed decreases significantly (with headunit running), it's definately the battery. It's nothing major, matter of money really. :-D |

Hi Hannah I think that sounds about right, I guess I'll have to get a new battery woohoo! Kindest Regards Sunil |

My name is Hanah, but anyway good to hear it. Nothing major. We just wait for the 'mishaps' on the F dont we all? :-P |
