MG MGF Technical - workshop manual

Daughter has just bought a 96 F and I expect I will get most of the work. Anyone know if Haynes or anyone does a workshop manual or is there any other source of information. I've got a good stock of tools but is there anything unusual I might need.
Thanks

You can get a manual from any Rover garage, or they will order one for you. The cost is about £30. But I am told they are very good. Paul...

To reinforce what Paul has said the official workshop manual is very good BUT it assumes you are a mechanic. As yet Haynes have not done an *F* manual.

I now do most of my own service work and manage with a 'regular' tool kit - but it must be metric and the new fangled torx screws are used a lot so a set of those funny drivers is also useful!

RCL0051 (mine's edition 6, but there may be newer ones...) from your Rover dealer covers the things that are "unique to the F".

However, it does specify that RCL0057 ("k" series engine") and RCL0124 (PG1 Manual Gearbox) should be used in conjunction with it.

Noone else has produced a manual for the car yet, however it might be possible to use manuals from other cars (e.g. Haynes) for the Engine and Gearbox requirements.

There's no electrical wiring diagram in the book ( :-( ) and this is also available (though I don't have the p/n to hand). However, its "out there on the Web somewhere" for handy printing (I'm sure someone will chime in with the URL...).

Some "semi-specialised" tools might be needed for common jobs: things like long reach sockets and a "pin" spanner for the rear brakes spring to mind (I use the spanner that undoes my angle grinder for the latter!)

This BBS is of course a wealth of information - often better than the manuals!

Edition No 3 of RCL0051ENG will do for all MK1 MGF until MY2000.
Newest is from what I heard of the Edition No 8. *useless for MK1 owners*
I think this will be the last if they don't amend again with the niggle mgtf changes at the headlights and suspension.

Somebody out there who would bet they will not amend just to Ed. 9 ?
:)
Wiring of MK1 is on http://www.mgfcar.de/schedules/

I recommend reading http://www.mgfcar.de/hydragas/ehydragas.htm
and if you are a very 'hard' DIY then due to special tools
