MG MGF Technical - Wpier - motor or switch
Help. MGF Wiper not working. Fuse OK. Before I splash out on a new motor from Ebay could it be the switch - any advice on how I wolud know and on how to replace the switch if necessary. Many thanks Gavin |

It could well be the linkage - have a look under the bonnet - the ball and socket joint rusts and drops out, (but hopefully not in very old ones). There are 'improved' aftermarket options available. |

Gavin The best and simplest way is to get an old headlamp bulb solder two wires on to it check it lights on the battery. Find the connector block for the wiper motor connect the lamp on to the terminals that were connected to the motor switch on. The lamp should light if the switch is working and the fuse is ok. If it does light then the wiper motor is the problem. There are small carbon brushes that take the voltage to the armature of the motor which can wear out but i am not sure if they are a replaceable item on the MGF. Let us know how you get on Roger |
