MG MGF Technical - XP power engines
Hello I an looking for information on how to improve my VVC to the 160TF version. Can somebody help? Jack |

Jack, If you're in Chesham, Bucks then pop along and see me in Amersham and I'll explain how my MGF VVC made 175 Bhp at a rolling road. Email above. Dave |

Jack, Don't talk to Dave, he'll lead you astray. I was reading a classic car mag yesterday and it mentioned a 190BHP Oselli conversion, multi-throttles, new cam etc. Presumably this is for an MPI not VVC. |

If you only want 160 bhp from your engine, then its easy - new 52mm throttle body, new airfilter assembly (ITG Maxogen or Pipercross Viper) and new exhaust should do the trick nicely. Figure on about 700 quid for all that lot, new. But a 160 is a bit lame when 180 is there for the taking. Have a chat to Dave 'Dark-side' Livingstone, who engaged the services on one very enthusiastic David Andrews... ;o) |

I saw the Oselli F on Saturday. It cost them about £4,000 to do the conversion and it sounds gorgeous. Shame someone smashed up the front wing the other week! They are repairing it ready for an article in MG enthusiast mag in a couple of months time. Multi throttle bodies look the business and they have tested it, and it does kick out 190bhp! John. |

JFK, Are there and photos of this Oselli F? Regards, Mike.. |

I guess we'll have to wait for that MGE article Mike! LOL I'm guessing that it's their early BRG demonstrator John? I wonder if it uses a VHPD head (it would certainly explain the expense - these are not cheap castings). Interestingly, I just looked up Dave Andrews' site (http://members.aol.com/DVApower/ ) - you'd be looking at £1660 (I think inclusive of VAT) for his VVC to 185+ spec (solid cam conversion) Anyone got a spare VVC head lying around, using it as a paper weight, just dying to give it away? If so, contact me at the usual address... ;o) |

Yes, it an early BRG one with Osellis plastered down the side. It's got a new reg plate on it though , a K. I had a head prepared by them for a Mini a few years ago and they know their business. Have a look at their web site and drool over their stock of MGB's , midgets, Astons etc. John. |

VHPD head castings can be had for about £350, I have a large number of VVC heads laying around.. out of interest.. you can get 190-200BHP from a K series for around £3200 fitted. That includes big valve head, multiple TBs, Emertald M3D, airbox etc. If you are really keen you can get up to 250BHP depending on how much hurt your wallet can take. Dave |
