Wow! Bad chrome center dash, dry rotted tyre sidewalls, ill-shaped repro radiator shell, cracked up steering wheel, rotten chrome on inside door locks, hardware store screws center dash panel, mis-mounted battery, dynamo dated '58, ground strap from firewall to back of head, cracked top hose, tractor solenoid wiring set up, check out the clutch linkage!, split rack boot, bent A-arm, bad lower door gaps. Either someone was had, or my car is worth about double what I thought! To me, this would be a low-mid $20K car. George |

I imaging that the guy who bought this car did so because he liked it,wanted to have a car he could drive and enjoy and not get hung up on stupid things like the "wrong screws", "bad door gaps" "Dynamo dated '58" and all the rest of the trivia which can all be put right as he gets to know the car.
If he is reading this thread,he might be a bit miffed to see the comments above. Dont let it put you off my friend, enjoy your new toy, get out and drive it and ignore the trailer queens . It's your money, spend it how you like. |

Superficially it looks fine to somebody who wants an old car to drive to the pub on a sunny Sunday (what's the US equivalent?). A lot of the detail can be picked up as he/she goes along. Even the best of restored vehicles need something doing and that's half the fun of it. 'Needs nothing' is one of the most misused epithets when punting an old jalopy. |

I fully agree with Mr.I W Martin. Maybe a bit over priced but all in all an very nice car. |

Yes, the basic restoration is not bad. But the repro grill shells are just off when compared side by side to factory- and that is focus of these cars. When I see that much detail wrong, bent suspension, etc. there is likely a lot more wrong elsewhere. Way overpriced for cars in the US. George |

I ask out of curiosity, not out of defiance - how is the radiator shell ill fitting? It looks even with the panels of the bonnet all around and with the fenders. What am I missing? Thanks. |
Bobby Galvez |
You have to select one of the side views and zoom in. See the gap at the top of the bonnet. This may be just installed incorrectly but it could be that a repo shell is not right. Don't know without looking over the car carefully. |

Another way to tell that the radiator shell is incorrect, is that the starting handle hole is round, whereas the original has a flat on its lower edge. John |

I really don't think that the gentleman who purchased this car was interested in concurs condition, as most folks today aren't anyway. He probably fell in love with a very pretty car with a beautiful paint job he could jump in and drive and not get involved in a lot of the BS we put up with restoring these cars. I won't say what I have in my TF (Which isn't concurs) and 9 years of beating on it and I can understand someone buying a pretty TD for a little more money than a lot of us think it's worth, just for the reason of taking it home and enjoying it right out of the box. The main thing I would have checked is if the grill shell is brass, not steel, there are steel repos out there. I wish him luck with the car and hope he enjoys his new toy. Just sayin. PJ
