MG TD TF 1500 - 57 ZB Magnette value in Australia

Hi
I know this is not TD/TF related but thought I would contact more Australian BBS users on this tread than the Magnette thread where I have also posted this request.
As you would n=know I am restoring a 52 TD, but I have the opportunity to purchase a 1957 ZB Magnette, here on the Gold Coast.

The following is how a mechanic describes the car:
This MG ZB is not a concourse car. However, it is a car that would make a very good every day / club show car. Its British Racing Green paintwork is, whilst still bright, tired; as is the interior trim. Some non standard parts have been fitted in its past years such as fuel pump, distributor, turn signal switch, and steering wheel.

Bodywork is solid and straight with no evidence of corrosion on the upper or lower surfaces.
With a little attention to some small points, I see no reason why this car should not have any problem passing the Qld Transport Roadworthy inspection with ease.

It comes with the following spares: 2 sets of doors, bonnet, boot and front guards / wings, set of bumper bars and front and rear windscreens.

Asking price is $7500. How does this compare with current market. (None currently for sale, but I know there were some late last year.)

TIA
Stuart

Hi Stuart, a couple sold in Sth. Oz last year for about that figure, if the seats are not torn and it runs OK it sounds about right. I have heard of a Varitone for about $17k but is supposed to be very nice.

A few ZBs had automatic transmission.

How 'bout this one?

Also, this was MGs first adventure into a monocoque chassis, and I understand from a friend who has two ZAs, that there were some serious nests for rust. Less a problem in OZ, but here where we have salt on the winter roads, it can be critical. If the car has lived by the sea, you could have similar problems.

If a monocoque gets seriously rusty it can actually bend in the middle. I had this problem with my MGB and and to spend nearly $5,000 to get it strengthened.
