MG TD TF 1500 - A Vermont MG story for Chrisrmastime
Jean was driving her TF through the verdant hills of Vermont one warm spring evening. The road was deserted and she hadn’t seen a soul for a some time. Suddenly her car started to cough and splutter and the engine slowly died, leaving her sitting at the roadside in silence. She popped the hood to see if there was anything that she could do to get it going again. Unfortunately, she had a limited knowledge of cars, so all she could do was stare despondently at the engine. As she peered by the gradually fading light of her flashlight, she cursed that she hadn't put in new batteries, as she had promised herself. Suddenly, through the inky shadows, came a deep voice, "It's your fuel pump." The lady jumped up quickly striking her head on the underside of the hood. "Who said that?" she demanded. There were two cows standing in the nearby field, and she was astounded when the nearest of the two cows repeated, "It's your fuel pump, lady; tap it with your flashlight, and try it again." Confused, she tapped the fuel pump with the flashlight, turned the key and sure enough, the engine roared to life. She muttered a short thank you to the cow and took off. When she reached the next town, she ran into Tom & Jerry's Bar. "Large whiskey, please!" she said. A local farmer sitting nearby looked at the lady's ashen face and asked, "What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost!" "It's unbelievable," she said and recounted the tale to the farmer. He took a long, thoughtful sip of his beer ... "A cow, you say? Was it by any chance, a white cow?" To which Jean replied "Yes it was! Am I crazy?" "No, you ain't crazy lady. In fact, you're lucky," said the farmer, "because the black cow don't know diddly-squat about MGs". Have a nice Christmas folks, Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |
