MG TD TF 1500 - Accelerator pedal and shaft
1954 mgtf Left hand drive I broke one of the brackets that holds the accelerator shaft to the firewall. Is there a source for obtaining a new one? I can't seem to find the part (or the pedal and shaft for that matter) in the Moss catalog. Thanks. |

Hi Ed, I have a TD and can only imagine that your broken part is the same as mine. I made one up by bending a piece of heavy strapping around the shaft in a "d" shape and bolting it to the fire wall in the same hole as the broken part. I searched for an original replacement but had no luck. I've had it in the car for about 3 years now and it works fine. I hope you can understand my solution. George TD4224 |

Somewhere in the archives several fixes have been discussed. The above fix is simple and works well. I personally can never seem to find things in the archives, but give it a shot. George |

Ed, I have a pedal out of a 62 Sprite that I believe has the same bracket. I'll have a look tommorow. If it is the same I can cut the shaft and send you one. I think you are going to have to figure out a way to bend your shaft straight or cut it in two to get it in place. I'll try and let you know tommorow if they are in fact the same. LaVerne |

Ed, I had a look and the brackets appear to be the same including the locating pins. I'll cut the shaft and send you one if you figured out a way to get it on your shaft. The Sprite and TD/TF shafts are not the same in case you were thinking that direction. LaVerne |
