MG TD TF 1500 - Add one more -- a '53

Yesterday I acquired a 53 TD in need of a lot of work (no, this is not an April Fool Joke). Details can be seen at http://www.ttalk.info/The53.htm

Congratulations Bud with your latest TD.
Pretty much in the same condition as mine altough that's still a complete car ! Mine was also originally a Silver Streak car and later resprayed in black. I'm going to follow your restoration with more than the usual interest !!! Is it going to be a Silver Streak TD again once it's finished ???
Good luck ! Nick, 52TD/63midget.

My nature is to want to return the car to its early stage of life, so I'll most likely go back to Silver Streak. A non-factory item that I may try to bring back is the radio. It has an early Allstate AM, glove-box radio.

Hi Bud,

I too have a 53 that started out similar in body condirion but much worse condition for the engine and gearbox. New wood, new body panels, years of sweat, and I hope to finish the body ready for paint in 2 weeks. Congrats on the new 53 TD. I'll also follow your progress with interest.

Are those the stock pedal extensions or something someone made up?

Congrats Bud!

Another slippery slope in the making...

A silver streak TD will look great in the garage next to Lazarus.

Bud,

You have probably started a good, long thread. My contibution is your running board on the LHS is incorrectly positioned. There should be a gap between the rear of the board and your wing.

Cheers

Congrats Bud on your latest acquisition. Gee, I've got a couple of rusted rotted TD's laying around. If I knew you were looking for another project, I would've sold you one of mine, cheap.

Just kidding. Considering the state Lazarus was in when you got him, and how he looks and drives now, I'm sure you'll make a fine job of it...eventually.

Bud Keep me informed about progress on your Allstate radio. Is it a vacuum tube type? After the Syracuse GOF I fixed one up for a fellow in NJ. Needed new rectifiers, the selenium ones had died. Had to trace the circuit out to make sense of the thing but I got it working fine. Good Luck Bob
