MG TD TF 1500 - Amps... on the gauge...?
I'm seeing 2 to 5 amps, no lights on at 2,500 to 3,000 rpms. Should that be higher? |

Not if the battery is fully charged. |

Mine usually jumps to near 30 amps for just a few seconds just after starting. Then around 20 amps for perhaps a minute and then down to the 2 to 5 amp region where you can watch the fuel pump tick to the negative and the regulator to respond with short excursions to the positive. This is as mine has always been and as I remember from my original TD from the 1950s. Regards, Jim Haskins 1953 TD |

Thanks guys. I'm getting Jim's gauge action, I'm OK then. ..... |

Perfectly normal. Mine charges right at 2 amps steady cruise with no lights on, and is a better turn signal indicator than the tiny indicator lights. |

I found that if your battery runs down when you are drawing a lot of current like with the lights and heater on and in town traffic, I had to increase the voltage setting which gave me more max current. Chuck |
