MG TD TF 1500 - Another 1.5 inch SU question
The 1.5 inch SU's that I have on my XPAG engine in my '52 TD have a big ol' chunk of spacers between the carbs and the manifold. Not only are the ugly, but they cause my new forward air filter to push the bonnet side out a smidge. If I could remove one or both of the spacers, that problem would go away. But, someone at the factory or a PO put them there for a reason, I presume. Since mine is a TF carb and manifold set up, maybe I dont need them in the TD?? Any one out there know?? Can I take them off and just use a thin gasket?? Thanks for the great response on the airfilter issue on another thread. Harry |

Harry - The spacers are there as a thremal break, they keep the heat frome the manifold from migrating to the carburetors, at least that is their stated purpose. They could be trimmed down in thickness to about 1/4" and still do their job. Good luck - Dave |

My 1 1/2 inch carb spacers are from a MGA. They are probably 1/4" thick. I wouldn't sand down original TF spacers as they may have more value than the MGA ones. G'day |
