MG TD TF 1500 - AS 41/076B

Went on line hoping to see the Abingdon Spares catalogue there. No joy. I wanted to identify AS 41/076B so I entered the part number & it came up as an unknown number & so not listed. Can anyone tell me what this packet of four 1/4" BSF T nuts are for? I could email them after Easter but I'm keen to get the answer. I've had them for a while now so they were sold prior to the AS change of ownership. I had them bagged as 'Seats' but that is incorrect as the seat T nuts are 5/16" BSF. For some weird reason I have four packets of four. The only other possibility is that they may be for the fittings that screw into the seat back such as the tonneau rail etc. Cheers

Try this link:

That P/No 41-076B T-Nut for Seat Bottom, 1/4 BSF

For reference the first 2 numbers are the Section the parts are listed in, this case "Chrome Trim" which appears out of left field for a seat component that probably is not chromed.

Looks like you have some surplus bits.

Thanks Graeme. Now I really am confused. The 5'16" T nuts that I also have in a bag marked 'Seats" came from FTFU & are supposed to be correct for the four bolts that secure the TD seats to the timber floor. I just checked on that site under both Nuts & Bolts & again lucked out. The timber floor is secured to the chassis with 1/4" BSF bolts but I'm surprised that the seat bolts & T nuts aren't a bit beefier. Roy Chalberg's drawing states that the seats are each secured with a pair of 5/16" UNC? bolts & T nuts. However I do have a pair of original floorboards at the car with all the ex factory T nuts intact so I'll test these tomorrow using 1/4" & 5/16" BSF bolts & report back. If anyone can clarify this 1/4"/5/16"/BSF/UNC question I'd be appreciative. Cheers

Just did what I should have done first up & checked Chris Couper's site. He clearly states that the bolts that secure the seats have a 1/4" W head & a 5/16" BSF thread.
Thanks Chris! Cheers

Could the four bags be for the attachment of the seat rails to the seat bottoms?
Rick

Does the tonneau bar take tnuts?

Hi Rick & Bill. Could be Rick but Chris has 16 T nuts in the seat bottoms however he's identified the thread as 2 BA. Bolts (machine screws?) are 3/4" slot heads. The quantity is correct though. I'm yet to remove the cover from the seat back Bill so I have no clue as to what's in there. There is also the bracket that secures the seat back to the tub. I do know that the other two T nuts in the floor for the sliding sheet metal cover above the master cylinder are 2 BA, so Chris is probably correct. He usually is. So that still leaves me with four bags of four 1/4" BSF T nuts. Cheers

We could be on to something, here. The seat hardware, by my recollection, is not chrome plated but nickel plated, and certainly not painted when it left the factory. All the body fasteners should be BSF, eh?

If you use the link I posted all the confusion is addressed unless Abingdon Spares have got it wrong,

41-076A T-Nut and Screws for Floorboard, 5/16″, Set of 4

41-076B T-Nut for Seat Bottom, 1/4 BSF

The image of 41-076A is indicating to me the thread used is BSF, shame the part description is not stating this.

Note 41-076B are not applicable to a TF.

Thanks Graeme. The seat to floor are definitely 5/16" BSF. The seat runners to seat Chris Couper has as 2 BA not 1/4" BSF as AS indicate. Worth noting the other 2 BA T nuts associated with the floor are for the sliding cover over the brake master cylinder. The only T nuts in the floor are for the seat anchors & this sliding cover. Cheers
