MG TD TF 1500 - Assembly Questions

My TF was some what dissasembled and butchered by PO's so I have no point of reference here. Pedal assemblies together in the box after a little weld up on the shaft and new bushings to rid the slack. Guess what. One look at the fume excluder tells me its all coming back off. Ok its all back together. Questions are -- does the rubber pad fit between the box and the wood or between the wood and the fume excluder? Next question --- when the pedals are mounted to the arms does the longer portion go up or down? Last question for now--- what should I plan on using between the frame and the various mounting points on the tub? Have thought about using some heavy rubber pond liner I have. In the box of assorted stuff I got with the car were 4 pieces heavy felt, where should these be going if anywhere besides the trash?
Starting to look like something now with the rear end on the frame. New brake lines and master cylinder in. Rubber bump stops should be here from Abingdon tommorow and should have the front end together tommorow night.

Thanks

The rubber pad goes under the floorboard on top of the metal rim of the pedal box. The pedals (and the extensions on some cars) can be mounted however they fit your feet best. The fume excluder can be stretched and pulled over the pedals without removing them. Anything from metal washers, vinyl floor tile, sheet rubber or whatever can be used, but maybe try something that won't trap and hold water. Remember that the thickness of each pad varies the fit of the doors. George
