MG TD TF 1500 - At least they are honest
E-bay listing for the day http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4548831270&category=31858 I know many of us subscribe to "Whatever floats your boat" when it comes to doing things to MG's, but trying to figure out the logic of why people do some things is just mind boggling. I bet those chrome buttons were a real thrill after setting in the hot sun for a bit. Overall, not a bad one for restoration. |

Indeed Bruce, and not that expensive too. If you care to have a look at their website it's listed for $6,500.00. They had this great looking (all original??) 17.000 mile dark red TF for sale lately, together with a very nicely restored MGA Mk2 Coupe. You can't find an MG TD in that condition for that price (approx. 5000 euros) here in Holland... As for the upholstery, well....would do great in the Salon of Madame Fanny I guess...8^) Cheers: Nick, 52TD/63midget. |

All things considered, it would be a good restoration candidate. So... who cares about the Marquis de Sade interior, and the funny old west pinstripes? I think you should buy it Bruce... hehehehheeeheheh dave |
D. A. Braun |
I know someone who has bought from this gentleman and I have spoken with him on the phone. He's a straight up guy and does very nice work on his restorations. |

The pin-striping was probably grand in its day on new paint. John |

If I bought that particular MGTD I would surely name it "Liberace". Greg & Grimm |

Man, seeing that made me want to rip out my new Moss interior and go for the 'Bass Boat Special.' That is SWEEEE-EEET! But then again, maybe not. Thanks for posting that. I got quite a laugh from it, and all kidding aside, that car will probably make a nice candidate for restoration. Not that I'd take it on. With only 25 miles on my TF project, it will be quite some time before I start on a new one. |

They painted it BROWN, 'cause its a Florida rust bucket. |

Another "honest" project... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31858&item=4549261091&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW No candidates here to bring this sorry looking "Lazarus" back to life??? Could keep you out of the pub for many years to come...8^) Cheers, Nick 52TD/63Midget. |

Nick, Times now gone, never to return - how many of us remember seeing cars just like the one on ebay in the local scrap yard in the 1960s Jan T |

Now I'm confused. My TD has no headboard or footboart. Were they a period accessory? Jim H. 1953 MG TD |
J. M. Haskins |
Jim, Up here in New England and probably elsewhere as well, we have “Bed Races” to raise money for various charities, This must have been the start of one of the very first prototypes, it probably failed because of the weight,, SPW |

Unfortunately seems a bit too far gone for anyone other than someone with unlimited funds and time (or a death-by-frustration-wish) to go for. For the price, there may be some useable sheet-metal spares. Larry P.S. - How about the Mark I Sprite in the background? Looks like another lost soul, though maybe not as far gone. Hard to tell. |
Larry Thompson |
Allways knew it - you American guys just don't know how to look after decent British machineery! Cheers Jan T |
J Targosz |
At least the owner listed it and did not sell it for scrap steel. Wish I had a barn of other place where things like this could be stored. Parts like these will only get harder to find. |
