MG TD TF 1500 - Auxiliary Fuse Harness
I finally finished documenting the installation of an auxiliary fuse harness in my TD. The document can be viewed at http://tseriesmg.*logspot.com/ (You must replace the * with b in the address above. The BBS won't let me link to the address.) Hopefully it will provide a good starting point for others to protect their cars. Thanks to Dave Braun, Jim Budrow, Dave DuBois and Dave Rome for their help with this project. My next project will be verifying the current draw of each circuit in the car. It might be a while until I get started, it is -1F outside right now!! |

Evan, WOW! I am ordering my British Wiring harness today and will absolutely try this approach. Very informative. I'll ask them for the extra wire with the order. Dave 52TD |

Wow- great work. I had been mulling over some type of additional protection. Had thought about a master type of ciruit breaker or something, but that would be useless for the smaller drawing circuits. George |

Evan - Great job! Did you get the modular fuse blocks from British Wiring also? As an aside, this type of wiring lends itself very easily to the addition of relays in the headlight and tail light circuits, which is an easy way to incerase the light output of the lights, or accomodate higher power lights. Bob Jeffers has even come up with a pretty neat solid state relay circuit that could be used. On the subject of electrical systems in our cars, Rick Astley has published a great book on the subject. The title is MGB Electrical Systems and even though it is written to the MGBs, there is enough basic information to make it appilcable to any of the MGs, T series included. For anyone interested, it is available through Amazon.com Cheers - Dave |

Thanks guys! Dave, I found the fuse blocks at Pep Boys. |

Evan, you are offering me too much credit. Is this the project I supplied you with the gauge sizes of the wiring loom I purchased from British Wiring? If so, it was a pleasure to assist. Beautiful work. warmly, dave |

Why do I only get a page full of pop-ups when I try to access Evan's link? Is anyone else experiencing that? |

Well, duh...re-read the post and replaced the * with the 'b' like he said and it worked perfectly. Like the others that have commented here, I'm very impressed...not only with the idea but also the excellent article that you wrote/published. What do you do in real life? Best, Gene |

Thanks again. I hope everyone finds it helpful! |
