MG TD TF 1500 - Back on the road
After 4 years, TD 12308 is close to returning to life on the road. Following a total strip down and rebuild it's almost ready to go to the trimmer. Here's a few photos of it's rebirth if anyone's interested. http://www.wdmadvertising.com.au/td12308 |

Until you take another one, I added that shot of you to our little photo page...! |

Steve, Congratulations. Every time I see a bare tub sitting on some stands, I realise the many long hours of work that have gone into making it what it now is. Totally original (except for the black bead) and looking ready for a nice long tour, once the trim is in place. I particularly like the drip tray under the car, complete with kitty litter. I can't believe that some one isn't making these trays comercially - The only thing the early British cars lacked when coming from the works! Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Steve- Those are great shots of the restoration. For a lot of us the photos look very familiar. Maybe a different garage but the tub, frame and engine shots bring back memories or for some of us warn of things to come. The new paint job looks outstanding. You should be very excited that you will soon will be able to drive the completed project. Only one minor comment. Someone installed the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car. Must have something to do with your location with respect to the equator. Happy motoring |

Roy: Please note that the steering is actually on the RIGHT side for all cars everywhere. Even if it is the LEFT for North American cars it still is on the right side. Makes me feel good to say that as with my VA tourer all the people would piont out that the steering was on the WRONG side and then my comment was "it's on the right side". Sandy |

You're right Sandy - It is the right side. And here I thought it had something to do with the direction of water while draining (clockwise versus counter-clockwise). |

Gordon That's not me in the photo. I'll get a shot of the car with me in the next week or so. |

Steve, Great to see it happening for you. Thanks for the photos you supplied me, to assist in my project. Looks good, well done. Bill Cassidy Victoria. |

Bill most of the credit has to go to the talented guys who have put it back together. I pulled it all apart and paint stripped it by hand and got to know every part in the process but most of the rebuilding has been in the hands of experts - Wayne Hocking of Meadows, who did the timber and tub rebuild as well as a lot of the panel work; Ross Barlett of AutoCar Creations at Strathalbyn who did the paint and also some panel work; and especially David Griffin of Carcraft at Mount Barker, who has done all the mechanical and electrical and put it all back together. When I get a chance I'll chuck all the photos I've ammased (a couple of hundred) onto a web page. |
