MG TD TF 1500 - Battery charging question

Since a TD has a positive ground, is there any problem
created when attahcing a battery charger and leaving the battery cables hooked up to the car? I have attached the positive charger cable to the positive, and neg as indicated, but should the vehicle cables be taken off before doing thsi? Any adverse effects leaving them on?

Richard - There is no problem as long as negative goes to negative and positive goes to positive.
