MG TD TF 1500 - Bench Bleeding MC

When bench bleeding my master cylinder, I noticed the piston not going all the way to the piston stop. Sometimes it comes within a half inch or a quarter inch to the stop. I did hone out the master cylinder, cleaned it very good, coated everything with brake fluid. Is it because the piston cups are new & its just enough drag for the piston not to go to the stop? I can drive the piston on home with air hose, still not getting the brake pedal to pump up. Been trying to bleed with a small hand vaccum pump but no luck. Did check all fittings for leaks & have all new copper washers. Thank you all for your imput! Steve

Put a hose from the bleed nipple into a can of fluid and pump till you see no bubbles...tighten and do the next one...if you have no leaks it should pump up.
Start at right rear/left rear/right front/left front....

I have always understood that, when bleeding brakes, one should usually follow the sequence as outlined by Gordon above, but WHY???
G.E. Love

I was told to bleed the wheel furthest from the MC...that should get the most air out with the first bleed...then each gets shorter and pushes less air out????

Steve. Sequence of bleeding brakes:
Open fillercap on MC fillup whit fluid, open
bleedernipple furthest away from the MC, press
pedal,Hold pedal in, close breedernipple,
slip up pedal, open nipple, press pedal, the air and fluid willgo out close nipple, and do the same againuntil no air comes out needs two persons, or use the easier way as Gordon says use a can.Be sure the tube ends under the fluid in the can. Pump the pedal slowlwy
until Keep an eye on the fluid level in the MC
