MG TD TF 1500 - Brake Sealing Washers MG TF
I just repaired the front brake cylinders on my car. I salvaged the copper washers (sanded on a glass backer and annealed them).
All sealed up. However I would rather have just replaced all the washers with new. I wanted to buy a kit of various sizes that would work in most applications on my MG and MK2 jag Best I could come up with was this on ebay : 100 Assorted Imperial Solid Copper Sealing Washers 1/4" 5/16" 3/8" 7/16" 1/2" Will this cover most eventualities ? There are lots of bigger sets but all metric or thin. The fastener lists online don't seen to cover this area. Thanks. Dave |

I have an equivalent set of washers and just tried on a spare hose adaptor bolt. 3/8" and 7/16" perfect fit. I think the banjo bolt paring the same, as is the 3/8" for the hoses. My set was less than $10USD a few years ago. George |

I recall that B&G stock the correct copper washers, inner and outer on banjo bolts are different outer diameters. Might be able to get a photo tomorrow. Peter |

Thanks Peter. Moss also stock the inners and outers for banjos at ~£5 a set to do all on the car. I would happily pay for the specific washers if I need to but there are so many places on both my cars where i need these copper washers I would like to get a mixed bag of the useful sizes (including the banjo sizes) so I can have them to hand. Moss here in the USA sell a set of 12 for the whole car, all the same size. I guess they work, mine are not leaking. Peter |

Thai is what I used. Sealed my seeping DOT 5 at the front brakes lines. Couldn't get copper washers to seal. https://www.amazon.com/Hilitchi-180-Pcs-Metric-Bonded-Assortment/dp/B07CKVYWD4/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=rubber+sealing+washers&qid=1577460482&sr=8-5 Tim |

Their the same type seal washers I have on one of my tractors hydraulic systems with banjo bolts, the system produces 3000 lbs of pressure! And they don't leak. Once used they have to be replaced with new when undone for whatever purpose, one time use. |

Adding that to my shopping list, they look real good. Peter |

You can't beat the price, I paid $8.00 for 4 of them when I had a tractor hydraulic steering cylinder rebuilt a while back. Most fittings are metric today and the kit says metric. PJ |

Tim I will take up your suggestion too :-) Thanks. Dave |

Dave, as I said I had success with them. I also used one on the MC cap for the remote brake reservoir I installed. I couldn't get the seeping from the cap to stop with copper or fiber washers. Again, using DOT 5 brake fluid. Hope you have a great New Year. Tim |
