MG TD TF 1500 - Canadian Winters

What tips can be suggested for winter storage of a 54 mgtf.
I have an unheated garage that some suggest is better so no
salt can corrode or affect the car. I will not drive it past
mid september when the weather turns cold and unpredictable.
Suggestions ?

Canadian Winters - it depends on where you are;
Mike Harris Calgary Alberta (we do winter right)

opps - seems my fingers had a mind of their own there. Anyway, re. canadian winters
-In Vancouver & Victoria you might have to put the top up and consider running the heater when you drive to pick up your double-tall-no-fat-Starbucks-latte.
-In Yellowknife you may consider hibernation for both you and the car.

Here in Calgary, -35 ( c or F, take your pick)is pretty common. Wash the car and change the oil and top up the hydrolic fluid, Put the car on blocks (to prevent the tyres freezing with a flat-spot), do not set the hand brake, flush the cooling system and fill with pure high quality antifreeze rated to -40 or so, or drain the cooling system compleatly. Also, take the battery into the house so it wont freeze. If its realy cold, the seats will freeze rigid so you dont want to put anything on them, or sit on them, even if you feel the need to recapture the sportscar experience when the snow is flying. It wont hurt to undo the spark plugs and put about 50-100 ml of transmission fluid into each cylander (prevents rust and sticking rings and will burn out when you start the car later. Fill or drain the gas tank and drain the fuel from the carbs (A friend likes to run varsol throught the carbs until it stalls but this may be overkill). Also, cover the car
to prevent frost condensation and dust. Then sit back and dream of spring.

Hope it helps.
