MG TD TF 1500 - changing to an alternator in a 'T'
I am a recent owner of a 54 TF in daily driver condition and I'm toying with the idea of eliminating some of the "prince of darkness" problems by changing over to an alternator. Any comments would be appreciated |

D.l. are you going to negative ground at the same time???/How about electronic ignition. They all kind of go together. Dave. |

I bought an alternator from Jerry Felper several months ago, set up with a fitting to take the tach drive. Unfortunately I have to construct a bracket to mount it on the engine and haven't had time for that yet. I've got hunk of scrap aluminum to work with. My motivation is to use my halogen clear fog lamps as drive lamps to increase visibility. When I got them (from JC Whitney) I ran them for a few days and ran the battery down . . . they draw more than the generator puts out. I didn't change polarity, nor do I plan to, since my clock and fuel pump have been transistorized with postitive earth. Andy Moyce 52 TD |
