MG TD TF 1500 - Chassis ID plate

For a car missing it's original ID plate (actually with a phony one in place) I am in need of a repop. Can anyone direct me to the best quality plate, and who can stamp it properly? I understand that it will probably always look like a reproduction, but it's worth getting the best quality possible, I think.

Ideally there would be someone out there who could cut out the original number panels, braze in new metal, and stamp per original.

Thanks. Tom

Here is an original

and the replacement I bought off feebay. Bought a set of dies and stamped it myself. The font isn't exactly right but close enough for me. The Moss plate is all wrong and I have no idea why they continue to sell it.

LaVerne

LaVerne - that looks better than the ones I have seen. Do you remember the source?

Thanks. Tom

Sorry Tom, I don't recall and my records just say ebay. I used to see these all the time on there.
LaVerne

LaVerne, maybe it was the guy who makes TD brass radiator plates. I think he is in New Mexico but my mind is blank after saying all I know.

Probably Doug Pelton- From the Frame Up. I got the carb and fuel pump tags from him. George

Well, the link won't work, so try www.fromtheframeup.com, then catalog, then click on pg. 19. George

Also try Clark Spares and Restoration at: http://www.clarkespares.com/ He does various name plates with original lettering. Cheers - Dave

I don't think so. I seem to remember it coming from eastern Canada near the USA border someplace. Of course I could be wrong.
