MG TD TF 1500 - Chreome Plated Air Cleaner

After the recent discussion on another thread regarding excessive chroming of vehicle parts (brake drums?!) I got to thinking about the chromed air filter that's on my TD. Supposedly it was on the car when it came into the family in '54, but I've always heard here on the board that TD's never had chromed air cleaners.

Okay, fine w/ me, I personally like the way it looks, but I understand it's not original.

But tonight, while looking for a deal on an exhaust system I came across the following at Abington Spares:

http://www.abingdonsparesllc.com/specials.html

If you scroll down to the bottom of the TD specials, they list a "Original Chrome Plated Air Cleaner 200.00".

Is it therefore possible some did have chrome air cleaners?

Thanks, and also, if you've got a good source for an exhaust system, it doesn't have to be S/S, feel free to offer that up as well.

Stan - The TD MKIIs had pancake air filters like those used on the TF. Idon't believe that they were originally chrome, but many people exchanged them for chrome filter housings. There was also a rather nice, smaller chrome filter for the TDs made by Hellings. I have an old one in my spares that I have aquired over the years. By the way, don't pay any attention to my ravings about chromed everything on the cars, the bottom line is, if you like it, go for it.

Exhaust systems - Skip Kelsay of Shadetree Motors in Pleasanton, CA carries good exhaust systems that are competively priced. I got a S/S system for our MGB from him and the people who installed it said they had never had a system that went together so easily as that one did, that they didn't have to bend so much as one pipe.
Shadetree Motors is at the ffollowing web site: http://www.shadetreemotors.com/

I thought early TD Mk IIs had the same air filter system as regular TD's and that on later Mk II cars it was the same style only larger.
Abingdon Spares has a large inventory of used parts -- this may have been an original filter that a PO had chromed.
