MG TD TF 1500 - Chrome replating
Hey folks, the adventure continues.......I would like to re-chrome the headlight rings and windshield frame on my 53. Any good experiences out in MG land? Thanks, Tom. |

Tom- a couple of years ago the rims from Abingdon were "genuine Lucas"- I guess new production. They were absolutley identicle to my original rims down to the rivets, and very inexpensive. Mine had been previously chromed, with the rivets being buffed out, etc. No recent chroming however. |

The biggest problem that George pointed out is that you will loose the rivets. No big deal even on a concourse car. I suggest that you buy new screws for the windshield where they will not show and use those and then selectively use rechromed ones from your originals as the philips slots are finer on the old ones + the round headed screws are different too. Only if you are looking for show quality of course. Chris |

Thomas, Be very careful when putting screws in the windscreen frame. If they are even slightly too long, you will crack the glass - guaranteed!! AB |
