MG TD TF 1500 - Collapsible steering column
Anyone ever fitted a collapsible steering column to a TD or TF. I would have thought it a sensible modification? I have a YB and was thinking if it was possible. |

TD's already have that. |

efh - is that tongue in cheek? TD's have nothing to collapse but your chest, when you hit the steering wheel in an accident, without a seatbelt. There's a world of difference between "telescoping" and "collapsing" steering columns... Tom Lange MGT Repair |

I was referring to the adjustment that lets you collapse the wheel if needed. I doubt a "modern" collapsible wheel would save a life in an accident in these cars! |

Single circuit drum brake system, wooden framed body, solid steering column, no roll bar/structure...risks assumed for the adventure of driving old cars. If you want safer, buy a kit car or a Miata. Regards, Tom |
