MG TD TF 1500 - COLORADO MG

To all of the folks living on the western slope of Colorado I am trying to track down my old Glacier Blue 57 MGA that I sold in Grand Junction in 1965. I recall that the buyer's last name was Burkey [sp?] of the Burkey building supply store family.
Thanks

The stuff I gave you was of no help Morris? I can try and do some further investigating if you like.

Thanks LaVerne. I am reluctant to publicly say more. If you or anyone else would email me directly I would be pleased to pass on what I recollect.
With your lovely dry climate I think there is a good chance the MGA survived.
Through our Motor vehicle Branch I am trying to recover the car# but it is a hand search through old written records. Any help will be appreciated.
The attached picture was taken at the start of the Suicide Hill Climb just north of Moab Utah in 1963
Thanks
Morris

I think you are going to find that I'm the only one in this area Morris. I'll do some further investigation if you like. I saved that photo along with the others to my hard drive sometime back. It's no big deal if you would like me to pursue it further for you.

Morris,
Have an old friend from Palmer Lake that I recall told me he had a Glacier Blue 57 MGA in late 60's early 70's. I never saw the car, but he told me about it.
Haven't talked to him for a while but I'll try to contact him and inquire about it.

Ahhh.... the sixties. Gonna share another photo of your car Morris. Do you know where this one was taken?

This picture was taken at the West Bank hill Climb in, I believe, May 1959. The Okanogan lake is in the back ground which is in the interior of British Columbia.
The sanctioning body would have been the "International Conference of North West Sports car Clubs.
It was my first speed competition and I didn't place.
The course ran along the lake for a mile or so then the road ran up a gully with lots of turns. Much more fun than the old airport using airport transfers sevenoaks courses.
Cheers

Morris, I just got off the phone with Jim Burkey. Says he remebers the car and rode in it a few times. Said that it belonged to his late cousin Chad. He said it would be ok if you give him a call. He is the manager of a local Credit union I belong to. The work number is 970-243-7330. I belive he said that he sold it after a few years but his wife might know what became of it. Good luck

Laverne, thank you. I reached Jim and now have the info to track down the brother of the fellow I sold the MGA to so I am on my way. If the car is still alive I can share the MG's interesting history with the owner.
Thanks again for your help.
Cheers

Morris,
Just for fun..ask if he sold it to someone named "Zoli" ...not a hard name to forget!
If he (by chance) says yes I can help you.
Haven't been able to contact him yet but sure he had a G-Blu 57.
PS If you find it and get it back I have a set of OH plates you might like:
AU57MG
Friend of mine had them on his car ...just the luck of the drawl and he gave them to me...wish he would have got in line 2 people before! I'd like to have :AU55MG !
Cheers,

In my old age I now have three MGs, a B, A & TD.
I would love to know the history of each of the cars, where they lived and what they did hence my interest in passing on the history of my 57 A.
Three years ago I purchased a 60 MGA which had been dismantled in 1976 & the restoration was abandoned. The car came with a 1622 engine installed and dust covers on the front disk brakes neither of which should have been in the car. Why? Just little mysteries that came to light as I restored the A.
I have left a message for the brother of the fellow who owned my old A so I will soon know more.
Cheers

The mystery continues. stay tuned for the next chapter.
