MG TD TF 1500 - Cutaway View of TD Wanted
Anybody know where I can find a cutaway (phantom) view of a TD without copyright problems? TIA -- Bud |

Hi Bud, In Jan. 1950, "The Autocar", printed an article on the "New MG midget" which included a cutaway view of the TD from the right hind quarter. I have preserved all the pages of the article which includes the performance test and the first road test. I don't know what problems there may be in copying these for you after all these years, but if there is someway to confirm the situation, I would be happy to send you copies. If anyone would know what the copyright problems this might entail, please let Bud or I know what could happen after 58 years. George Raham TD 4224 |

Copies are permitted under the copyright laws for your own personal use and/or research. Cheers - Dave |

If you wanted to blow up and make copies to sell, I assume you would still have to clear it with Autocar.... http://www.ewa1.com/mghac.html Unless the artist held the rights, then it would be his estate (the odds are pretty good that the artist was paid his $50 and the rights stayed with the magazine). |

I have an idea in mind for using such a cutaway view in the form of a GUI index for technical items on Ttalk. Thanks for the leads. Bud |

Bud, Brown and Gammons parts catalogue had, and perhaps still has, a cutaway drawing of a TD on the front cover. I've spoken to B&G and they have no problem with my scanning it and sending it to you providing that you don't then use the resulting picture for any form of commercial gain. Unfortuntaley the cover is green but you can see if this is what you want and if so then I expect B&G would be happy to sell you a catalogue. Mike. |

Chris Couper has some of the Autocar cutaway views on his website. Dallas |

Bud, The cutaway on the B&G catalogue is the exact same one as I have, so it seems you may not have a copyright problem. George Raham TD 4224 |

BTW, I do have a B&G catalog on the shelf. I thought of doing a quick RHD to LHD with PhotoShop, but the carburetors would be on the wrong side. Certainly wouldn't be for any financial gain. Keeping Ttalk going costs me about a $150/year. But it's worth it to me. |
