MG TD TF 1500 - Cutting a New Key

How does one go about getting a new key cut? Obviously if you have the correct blank & another key then it's a doddle, except that you are then only reproducing what is almost certainly a worn key. Assuming I have the correct blank & the number on the lock where/how do I go about getting my new key cut? I know about Pete Groh & have asked him this question but I can't seem to get an answer. Cheers

Peter -

Using the key code on the ingition switch of my TF, Triple-C Motor Accessories cut new keys. They also stamped the key code on the key. Perfect fit and operation.

Lonnie,

I used these people on ebay uk last week, good service and price. Just give them your key number and quantity.

I used a locale locksmith, it's a old fashion type where the owner has been lock smithing for years and has stuff jammed into every available space. I brought the switch he read the code, opened a dog eared book, cut three keys and they work perfect. $7 for the first key, $5 each after that.

AND I provide the blank!

Try Bruce Smith at Sportsparts. He has the keys ready to go. Price very reasonable.

Tried Bruce but he only has the BMC keys in stock & I'm keen to use the original Wilmot Breeden Union round heads. Thanks anyway Kev. Cheers

Decided to buy (or borrow if he'll let me) one of Bruce's new BMC keys ($11) & use an auto locksmith ($5) in Erskinville to cut my original Wilmot Breeden Union MRN blank. Thanks for the lead Kev. Cheers

Lonnie I Just received a reply from Triple C. $4 to cut my blank & $7.55 postage to Sydney. So I'll go with Bruce from Sportsparts & the local auto locksmith. Problem solved. Thanks to all for your help. Cheers

But Peter, $160 would sure give you some bragging rights! Grin. PJ

PJ, Craig Seabrook will totally recondition a switch for $160! And that includes a screen printed rechromed bezel. There's no way I'd pay anyone that sort of money just to cut a key. Cheers
