MG TD TF 1500 - Dash panel components

I'm restoring an early MGTD (1950, #2555) and am trying to identify the proper controls on the bottom row of the dash panel for this car. It's my understanding/guess the bottom right two holes on the dash panel are for two switches, one controlling the dash lights, the other for fog lights (though I'm not sure if fog lights were on cars this early). Then there's the hole for the starter cable, then two small holes in the bottom center, then the hole for the choke cable, then two holes for some type of indicator lights (low fuel level and ?). What are the two small holes in the bottom center for? I don't understand their description in the various books and manuals I have. Also, what two warning lights should this car have on the bottom left?
Robert

Robert - None of the TDs came with fog lamps, but a switch and the wiring to the front of the car were provided in case the owner wanted to install one, hence the switch. I wired mine to the fuel pump and use is as a hidden (in plain sight) anti theft switch on my TD. The two holes in the facia panel that you are describing are for plugs for a trouble light. There is a black and a red plug that go there, with black attached to ground and red connected to the negative side of the battery (on the original positive ground cars. You can see a picture of the facia panel with these plugs visiable on page 88 of the Original MG T Series by Andres Ditlev Clausager, which is available from Moss Motors if you don't already have a copy. Another book that you will find usefull is The Complete M.G. TD Restoration Manual By Horst Schach. This book is available directly from Horst Schach, who can be contacted at hschach@uky.edu. Both of these books are invaluable to the new (and old) owners of TDs. Another resource for poinmts of originality and other questions regarding the TD is Chris Couper's web site, The Original MGTD midget at http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtd/. And of course, as you are finding out, this BBS is a wealth of information on the TDs and TFs, so we will look forward to giving you assistance whenever we can. Good luck - Dave

Robert,
The fog lamp wire (if the same on TD as a TF..and I am pretty sure it is) will be a red wire with a yellow trace. I found the other end of mine in the harness loom just forward of the starter on the right side of the car. I did not use mine for the fogs as I run 1 fog and 1 driving lamp and wished to keep them on seprate switches. Whilst you are at this consider adding a little ertra fusing and switching to the mix!
I made a small bolt-on pannel that hides under the dash for mine...drilled NO holes as it attaches to the support rails for the dash but it allowed me to add some things (fuel cut-off as well) without any damage to orginal dash. Most people don't even notice it in the car. Let me know if you are intrested and I can send you some pic's.
Cheers,

Robert, The light to the far left is for generator light. Next is for fuel and in the upper middle you may have a hole for a light which is for high beam. The other switches etc you have indicated correctly. You may come over to see mine if you have time and desire to. Just call fisrt. My number is in the Register roster. My friend helped me put 10 extra fuses up under the dash. Like for you to see it
